A free community writing circle for mothers — a space to write, be witnessed, and reconnect with yourself through story.
The Village Writing Group is a peer-led, in-person writing circle for mothers, held once a month in Squamish. It's a space to put pen to paper on the parts of motherhood we don't always get to say out loud — the joy, the identity shifts, the grief, the exhaustion, the wonder — using writing as a tool for reflection and connection.
No writing experience is needed. This is a peer support and creative space, not a therapy group or a substitute for professional mental health care. Each session includes a short prompt or theme, quiet writing time, and an optional, no-pressure space to share.
This group is open to mothers of any age or stage — pregnancy, postpartum, parents of young kids, teens, or grown children. However you came to motherhood, you're welcome here.

Writer · Community Builder · Mental Health Advocate
I'm a writer, community builder, mental health advocate, mother, and outdoor adventurer based in Squamish, BC. In 2018, I fell 65 feet while rock climbing and survived — pregnant with my first child. That experience became the catalyst for Nowhere Fast, my debut memoir.
I hold a diploma in Marketing Management from BCIT and have worked in brand development, storytelling, and communications across the outdoor and wellness industries. I've also been a long-time community advocate for trauma recovery, maternal mental health, and mountain safety, working closely with Mountain Muskox, a support network for individuals impacted by loss and trauma in the backcountry. I've spoken at community events, facilitated peer circles, and contributed to initiatives centered on grief, healing, and the power of story.
My writing explores themes of embodiment, motherhood, identity, nature, and the quiet, transformative power of falling apart. I've completed several writing intensives and workshops and am currently working on a companion collection of essays and poetry.
Not at all. This group is for any mother who wants to write, regardless of experience.
No. This is a peer support and creative writing space. It's not a substitute for therapy or professional mental health care.
Just something to write with — a journal, notebook, or laptop. All prompts and materials are provided.
Keeping the circle to 10–15 mothers keeps it intimate and safe enough for everyone to be heard, so registration in advance is required.
Only 10–15 spots are available each month. Register in advance to save your seat — once we're full, we'll open a waitlist.
